How to Do a French Twist in 60 Seconds with a Bun Comb
Share
A French twist looks polished, but it does not need ten pins or a salon. With a good bun comb you can do it in about a minute, on shoulder-length to long hair.
What you need
A French bun comb and a brush. Dry or slightly damp hair both work.
Step by step
- Brush your hair back and gather it at the nape of your neck, as if for a low ponytail.
- Twist the hair upward, keeping it snug against your head.
- Fold the end of the twist inward and hold it in place with one hand.
- Insert the comb teeth-down at the top of the twist, then turn it a quarter turn so the teeth hook the hair.
- Pull a few strands loose around your face for a softer look.
Tips for a hold that lasts
For fine or slippery hair, add a little texturising spray before twisting. For thick hair, split the twist into two sections and use the comb across both. If you prefer a clip, try a tortoiseshell banana clip for the same shape.
When to wear it
The French twist works for the office, weddings and dinners. Add a velvet bow in winter for a festive finish.
